About
Wade Winston Wilson is the internet sensation also known as Deadpool: the Merc With a Mouth, the World's Greatest Mercenary*, the Regeneratin' Degenerate, and the peak of Ryan Reynolds's career in a post-Detective Pikachu world.
But he didn't start out that way. Though he's now from the year of our Lord 2024, Wade, before the franchise, was an ex-Special Forces Canadian killer who became a for-hire merc in a nondescript North American metropolis, to varying degrees of success. With a thriving social life (of murder) and an active sex life (it's important to know), he had it made for a small pocket of time in his life. He even had a Voltron: Defender of the Universe ring, which you'll never find on eBay nowadays, suckers. He had a place, he had a girl. He had, uh, "friends." Life was looking up.
That was, until the cancer.
Despite continent-hopping in an attempt to save himself from a quick-spreading cancer that was attacking four out of his (checks notes) many organs, Wade was trapped in a downward ski competition, with the finishing line being death. Following up on the shadiest business card known to mans, Wade found himself "consenting" to human experimentation in the Workshop, an illegal research organization whose goal was to make mutants out of humans, in a bid to save his life.
The good news is, it worked! Wade is now a mutant (or a mutate if you're someone who actually gives $5.00 to Wikipedia, but that doesn't cut it in the MCU-verse, baby), with incredibly powerful regeneration powers, bordering on immortality. Basically, he can't die anymore! The bad news is: it didn't cure the cancer.
And since he can't die and he's ugly, he took his newfound powers on a journey of self-discovery. And indiscriminate murder. But there was still a lot of self-discovery.
Now Wade is
, and is using his billions of Disney dollars to personally resurrect the XMCU from the jaws of 20th Century Fox's crushing defeat at the hands of a cinematic monopoly! You're welcome, America.

Demeanor
The most immediate impression anyone within hearing distance of Wade is that he is A Chatterbox. There is no silence around this guy, and that's very much intentional. He's always got a joke, or a reference, or a song lyric, or another reference, or a very intense visual metaphor involving Mickey Mouse and his mouth to fill the void, and when you keep befriending the most taciturn X-People known to man, there's a whole lot of holes that need filling. Of silence.
Along with the talking, Wade is a very active, in-your-face presence. Movement is a constant, and his voice is almost melodic in all the leaps and bounds it takes even in a normal conversation. As a bonus, he's also great at impressions. Most situations don't phase him because of the near-immortality thing, but he CAN be a little twitchy still with normal human reactions (such as flinching) if something's thrown his way. Look, he won't die, but pain is pain!
As the Merc With a Mouth, he has zero filter between his thoughts and his words. Intrusive thoughts can't be intrusive if you're letting them in for free, right? And whatever thoughts those turn out to be, you're going to be hearing them. Probably with some degree of regret (from the listener, not from Wade.) He's mostly callous towards other people's feelings unless they're someone he's close to, but if he is, expect a ton of bordering-on-friendly teasing. As much as Deadpool approaches the world like a series of chances to nail successful comedic timing, he does have an intense desire for belonging and for finding meaning in his purpose, even if that purpose is mostly killing people really well. He just hides it under all the comedy and the insistence he totally works alone.

Appearance
At first glance, Wade is, uh, unfortunate. He's ugly. Look, he knows it. You best believe, as the kids say. He's covered in wrinkled, mottled skin with sore-like craters across his entire body, has ears that bring to mind cauliflowers, and he doesn't have a single hair on his body. (Yeah. Think about it.) The rapid scarification of his entire body resulted in him losing his nipples and his navel, so now he resembles the end result of dropping a very ripe squash down a very long hill, and the hill also has ringworms and is made of acid. Sure, he's got Ryan Reynolds's chiseled cheekbones, but those didn't take him very far in life in the DC Universe, now did they?
The only thing that survived the mutation of his body are his big, brown doe eyes... which he usually covers with a mask, anyway. (And note that while he does wear a mask, the mask still emotes quite a bit with the magic of CGI!)
Because his skin is constantly regenerating itself from the cancer still in his body, the patterns of his scars change day by day. Though the XMCU does not touch on this, in the comics Deadpool is generally in a constant state of pain from the cancer killing his cells as soon as his healing factor regenerates them. It's more of a fact of life than any trauma, but he'll Get It if anyone else has chronic pain.

Fourth Wall
Whether a result of his mutation or for the love of the game in the writers' room, Deadpool has the power of acknowledging and reacting beyond the 4th wall. He's well-aware that not only is he a fictional character in a graphic-novel-slash-billion-dollar-movie-franchise, he's also quite aware that he's portrayed by the Canadian actor slash gin schlocker Ryan Reynolds in the most successful comic book movie rated R, and he'll let you know it.
He's equally aware that everyone else is a fictional character, too, unless he doesn't know you, but then it's a safe bet for him to think so, anyway. While he will make references to the 4th wall in general, this is used primarily for humour's sake; it is not meant to bring any drama to any character or thread (unless specifically asked for, of course!) This power is for Shenanigans Only, and there is also an opt-out post here if anyone wants to avoid this entirely!
Generally, even characters in his canon ignore him as if he did not make the reference at all, which you are beyond free to do in interactions, as well.

Skills & Abilities
Powers/Strengths
++ REGENERATION/HEALING FACTOR. While not immune to actually being injured, every wound inflicted on Wade will heal; the more intense or traumatic, the longer it takes to heal. He can fully regrow limbs if torn off akin to a starfish, survive being torn in half, blown up, stabbed, set on fire, etc. As long as a drop of Wade's blood still exists, he can regenerate from it. He can also reattach limbs if removed and have them heal and be fully functional much faster than regenerating them completely. This also leads to him having an immunity to other diseases, poisons, and toxins, and he has to imbibe a significant amount of alcohol or drugs to feel their effects. However, anyone with superhuman senses would still be able to detect he's a walking meatsack of super cancer still.
++ TELEPATHIC RESISTANCE. Sure, Deadpool is not completely immune to telepathy, but being in his brain can be a very confusing and disturbing experience. Delve too deep into his thoughts and you may have to come to terms with the knowledge that the entirety of your world is a fictional work made by the people... out there. And that's on top of all his very loud emotional instability, the trauma of his torture, a mind that somewhat borders psychopathy, and the ceaseless regeneration of his cells washing his brain around in a constant state of flux.
++ STRENGTH. While far from the strongest mutant around, Deadpool's strength doubles that of a normal human's, allowing him to easily break bones, bust down doors, or carry certain 400 pound neanderthals. It ties in a bit to his regeneration, because he can also withstand enough pain to saw off one of his hands, for example.
++ ENHANCED AGILITY/REFLEXES. While debatable whether this is considered another facet of his mutation (especially after the deletion of Wolverine: Origins from his timeline), Deadpool is extremely quick in a fight, and can slice at least one bullet shot his way with his swords and dodge swipes or shots from some of the quickest fighters out there.

Weaknesses
++ HEAD INJURY. Though Wade can regenerate from any injury, wound, and is unaffected by toxins or disease, head injuries, specifically anything that pierces his brain, can scramble his thoughts and leave him near-incapacitated until whatever is lodged in his head is removed. Typically this makes him hallucinate visual and auditory fantasies and removes even more of what little self-control he has.
++ TRANQUILIZERS. Wade can still be rendered unconscious through enough destruction of his head or with the help of a HEFTY amount of tranquilizers. He can be intoxicated or feel the effects of drugs, but it takes him a very large amount to get the same buzz as a normal person.
